LQAF Visual Arts Scholar Nikkohl Santa Maria has always been interested in art and technology. “My interest in graphic designing took off when I became the Layout and Design Editor for both the yearbook and newspaper staff for all four years of high school,” shares Nikkohl. With the help of a LQAF visual arts scholarship, she pursued her art at California State University, Long Beach, earning a B.A. in Graphic Design. For over two years now, she has worked as a freelance graphic designer, completing a wide range of projects for website, print and social media.
Recently, she became a contracted graphic designer with Graphted Design. She lives in Indianapolis, IN, where she continues to do remote freelance work for clients from all around the country.

In keeping with LQAF’s mission of “Promoting and Cultivating the Arts,” annual scholarship awards are made possible with proceeds garnered from LQAF public art events including the La Quinta Arts Festival, plus La Quinta Arts Foundation memberships and contributions by sponsors, community partners and memorial contributions. LQAF scholarship recipients are eligible to receive funding for up to five years.
The Visual Arts Scholarship Program is designed to assist local college-bound art students, and returning scholarship recipients, as they work toward a career in the field of visual arts.
