Michael McKee’s art reflects a love for the medium of soft pastels, and an appreciation of the balance between color, expression and technique.
Growing up outside of Cleveland Ohio in a musical family, Michael’s parents provided him with a strong appreciation for the joy of creative effort, and the value of art and music in the human experience.
A National Scholastics Art Scholarship winner, and Honors graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, he honed his creative skills while working as a portrait artist, illustrator, graphic designer and art director.
While on a trip to New Mexico, he was moved to touch the red earth, which struck him as feeling exactly like pastels. This led him to start experimenting with soft pastels, allowing him to use colors in exciting ways.
In the last 17 years, McKee has been enjoying much success exhibiting in art shows, galleries and art festivals around the country. At La Quinta Arts Festival 2018, he won best of category in Drawing & Pastel. “The success and face to face relationships I am able to develop with my collectors inspires me to paint even more enthusiastically than before,” shares Michael.
