Nancy and husband David Marks, Jr. were generous financial supporters of the Foundation; they even spearheaded the fund raising drive to renovate the old General Telephone building on La Fonda that housed the La Quinta Arts Foundation for so many years.
Nancy served on the LQAF Board of Directors from 1986 to 2000 and chaired several major board committees, including development, fundraising, and membership, as well as La Quinta Arts Festival committees. Nancy and a few other ladies launched “The Arts League,” that was a force to be reckoned with for many years. It served to expand membership and volunteerism, as well as generate financial support.
Kay Wolff, who served on the board with Nancy and with whom she shares the designation of “Board Member Emeritus,” recounts fondly, “Nancy was not only a true lady, but someone who was not afraid to roll up her sleeves for the benefit of the Foundation. She certainly did leave her ‘mark,’ and was an inspiration to all of us.”
