Awards La Quinta Arts Foundation $1,000 Grant
Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass (AACG) awarded La Quinta Arts Foundation (LQAF) a grant for $1,000 selecting LQAF to participate as one of the commemorative exhibitions, lectures and events celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the studio glass movement in the United States.
The grant money was used to offset exhibition and presentation costs for the 30th La Quinta Arts Festival, March 8-11, 2012 Featured Artist Randy Strong. The 4-day La Quinta Arts Festival showcasing Strong along with nineteen additional contemporary glass artists was attended by 25,000 patrons who purchased $2.5 million from 230 participating artists, the highest ever recorded sales.
Randy Strong’s exclusive lecture “A Life Lived at 2300 Degrees” was presented to over 300 enthusiastic fans of art glass on Friday, March 9th at Embassy Suites Resort, La Quinta, CA. The video presentation and lecture was a view from the inside of 45 years of the American Studio Glass Movement from the early pioneers to contemporary glass artists, as well as Strong’s own artistic journey.
