LQAF’s first Art Under the Umbrellas show of the 2012-13 season is October 27th.
We hope to see you there!
Jim Budish’s body of work – featuring an array of distinctive animal and human personalities – is instantly recognizable. He works in clay and casts his sculptures in bronze. Jim says about his art, “I try to create a smile through my sculpture by reaching into my subject, attempting to capture the joie de vivre that I believe is ‘lurking’ somewhere inside all of us. In my minimalist approach, with simple economy of line, I want to capture the essence of my subject’s spirit, emotion, attitude and personality.”
Budish was selected as a Featured Artist for La Quinta Arts Festival 2011 for his “Little Joy” sculpture which so aptly related LQAF’s message – “Embrace the Power of Art” – to its patrons. He also serves as a juror every year, helping assure that La Quinta Arts Festival continues to bring only the best and brightest artists to exhibit.
Jim’s whimsical style of string bean characters has won a slew of Best of Show awards from competitions across the country. His sculpture installations are on display worldwide and he is represented by prominent galleries in Illinois (his home state), Colorado, California, Idaho, and Arizona. One of the most exciting honors for him was the selection of Chauncey, his monumental bronze rabbit, for installation in Loveland’s Benson Park.
