This July, Master Jewelry Designer and Metalsmith Isabelle Posillico won one of ten Bellevue Arts Museum Carol Duke Awards of Excellence, receiving $1,000, and invited back for the 2013 show, plus a large crystal Tiffany Bowl from the sponsor.
And a just couple of months earlier, Isabelle’s Aquamarine Satellite Ring was shown on the cover of the Lark Books, Showcase of 500 Rings: New Directions in Art Jewelry, published in May 2012. See it here.
Isabelle Posillico was born just outside of Copenhagen, Denmark. She grew up in Idaho, and later studied Architectural Interior Design in California. Having enjoyed several successful years in that field she took a jewelry and metalsmithing class. This unexpectedly blossomed into a full blown passion–leading Isabelle to an entirely new career and life path.
Isabelle regards her signature style of art work as “Elegant Contemporary Jewelry & Metal” in which she designs, creates, roller prints, forms, constructs, and solders each individual piece she makes in her one-person studio in Northern California. Each jewelry piece is created with the ability to stand on its own with its timeless design. It is important to her that the jewelry pieces she designs are wearable, yet fun and elegant–which to many would be considered a paradox. (Click to enlarge any of the images below.)
Another new direction that has proved challenging and rewarding for Isabelle is the creation of her metal line which includes whimsical, decadent tableware pieces made in sterling silver and some with touches of gold and larger more sculptural pieces in lead-free pewter.
