Trumpeter and friend of the Foundation Steve Madaio is a returning favorite to the La Quinta Arts Festival adding the jazzy background music that suits this established and number 1 in the Nation fine art show.
Madaio’s resume as a musician is impressive to say the least. He has played, toured and recorded with some very big, very famous names known the world over. This includes Stevie Wonder, the Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, Allman Brothers, B.B. King, John Lennon, Donna Summer, Etta James, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Madonna, Bonnie Raitt, and the list does go on and on.
Madaio also had the honor of performing at the Music Masters show in Cleveland Ohio. This concert was dedicated to the 5o years that the Rolling Stones have been gracing us with their music.
Born in New York in the forties, given a trumpet at the age of 6, Madaio stuck with the instrument and started playing for orchestras and theatre shows. He got into rock and roll after seeing Screamin’ Jay Hawkins play. In 1969 he played the Woodstock Festival with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. Since then he has worked as a very successful session musician and loves it:
When your motive and intent are in the right place, everything else will follow. It may take some time, but I have always lived my life like this. I have been very fortunate to have such a great career. We have a limited time on this earth. Having fun and playing from the heart is what it is all about.” – Steve Madaio
He moved to the Palm Springs area in 1994 and has been playing in a variety of shows and benefits since. He has always been a favorite at Art under the Umbrellas. It is an honor to welcome Steve Madaio back to the La Quinta Arts Festival! Perk your ears and follow the smooth trumpet jazz that Madaio has perfected.
