Oil Painter Rimas Ciurlionis creates abstracts thick with texture, with layers upon layers of paint making it almost like sculpture. His pieces provoke emotion, memory, mood. They touch you deep within, and invite you to enter this meditative space. His is work that is painted like a symphony.
Rimas is originally from Lithuania and studied graphic design and painting there. After he finished university, he was employed for eleven years by a baroque period monastery outside of his town, Kaunas, where he restored frescoes. He came over to the US in 1992 and settled in Chicago where he has been working and living since. His paintings are in collections worldwide, and he has exhibited extensively in the US and in Europe.
