Always a traveler/explorer Chris Wheeler spent 5 years in Tainan, Taiwan immersed in Chinese landscape painting and calligraphy – but more importantly he learned how to mount works on paper for scrolls and shoji screens. With this skill, the artist is able to stretch and manipulate paper in ways very few people can. Wheeler had found his art form and the discoveries he made in Tainan during those years made all of his future work possible.
Wheeler’s minimalistic approach, with a nod to traditional Chinese landscape and Japanese paper collage is sure to be a favorite for La Quinta Arts Festival patrons seeking contemporary, yet timeless works.
Come meet and welcome Chris Wheeler who is making his first appearance at La Quinta Arts Festival.
