My appreciation of art has paralleled my own art over the years.  While I still appreciate the Old Masters, Contemporary Abstract has been my focus.

Oil is the preferred medium since it gives the artist the most flexibility to maneuver and enhance the image. It also gives the artist time to change her mind!

A recent large image was painted on Polycarbonate and later attached to a metal base. The uniqueness was the brushless technique used. The Polycarbonate was large and awkward and it was a task to roll the paint around on the surface to create the desired effect.  As always, the end result justified the effort.

Color is my forte and I can reproduce a color from memory. The composition often takes place in a random manner with shapes and colors dictating the next stroke.

While it is not difficult to begin a painting, it is sometimes a judgment as to when it is finished. All I can say is that it is a feeling that finally it is right. It’s that feeling of satisfaction that every artist lives for.

My early memories are of sketching in the margins of school books while growing up in Hawaii.  I pursued Art at the University of Colorado, then studied Graphic Design at the Tobé-Coburn School in New York City.  Pan American Airlines based me in California and Marin was my home for over thirty years. I have recently relocated to Palm Desert.  Art Classes at Marin College refined my Fine Art as well as Digital Art skills.

A Fine Art career took a back seat to Interior Design and Web Site Design, but painting was always a passion.  Time now is divided now between California and Gold Coast, Australia.  Working mainly in oils on canvas, metal, and polycarbonate, art takes on many forms.

My Digital skills are on the Mac.  View this range of Art on my website. I work in my studio which is in an area of my home. This allows me to work at all hours and when the spirit or inspiration moves me. I work mainly on canvas but have ventured into works on metal. I have created metal and lucite sconces which I do on a custom basis.

I have exhibited at galleries in Gold Coast, Australia. I have also had a recent entry in the Artworks Downtown Gallery in San Rafael, CA.
