Robert Ferguson
My interest in oil painting has led me from Parson’s School in New York and a career as a commercial artist to a life-long pursuit of the true colors of undisturbed serenity, tranquility and the sense for pure living to return to San Diego where I can paint outdoor year around.
I also spend time capturing the desert on canvas in the Coachella Valley and have recently purchased property in the Santa Rosa Mountains.
For me, painting not only represents a life-long interest in art, it is a dedication and a faith. My personal style has evolved through many influences. When I was younger I aspired to paint like Goya, until I saw the Monets and Renoirs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Today my favorite artist is American impressionist, William Merritt Chase.
My belief in art as energy and force, when transferred into a two dimensional plane, cannot be substantiated by any language in the world.
