2012 Festival Award Winners
Cultural Events, LQAF Blog, LQAF News Mar 28, 2012
La Quinta Arts Festival is proud to announce our 2012 Award Winners. Twenty-four judges independently evaluate one art media category in their respective expertise on the opening morning of Festival. The qualifications brought by this panel of judges adds tremendous credibility to our event. We encourage the judges to interact with each artist and ask relevant questions about their process. Booth display is also a component of the judging criteria. We commend the judges and congratulate all of the Artist Award Winners!

Mona & Alex Szabados have collaborated to make Enameled Jewelry for over 30 years. Theirs is a carefully orchestrated process by which Mona, the Enamalist, and Alex, the Goldsmith, team to create lockets, rings, pins, necklaces, and triptychs in their historical home town of Mokelumne Hill, California. Their specialized artistry has won numerous awards, and their work has been published in several books and magazines, including the front cover of “Ornament” magazine.
“Inspiration, other than wildlife, beauty, and the life we lead, are the enamels themselves, and the materials we use.” – Mona Szabados
